For the longest time, gamers have wanted a shark simulation game. It’s not hard to see why. Ever since Jaws, there has been a fascination about these large creatures that dwell below the surface.

Finally, gamers got the chance to flip scripts and become the deadliest predator in the sea with Maneater, an action role-playing game developed by Tripwire Interactive.

Players get to go around eating everything they can find and adapting to the environments they come across. It has been out on the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch since May. All things considered, the community seems to love what Tripwire has done.

Now just imagine going around as an unstoppable shark with better graphics and performance. That will be possible because Maneater is coming to the PS5 and Xbox Series X. Not only that, but the upgraded version will be completely free. For nothing, next-gen players can enjoy 4K HDR at 60 FPS as a shark trying to move up the crowded food chain.

That sounds like an amazing experience all things considered. It is important to note that this free upgrade will be available to everyone, regardless of whether you have a physical copy or a digital version of the game. That’s great news and shows that the developer just wants everyone to experience the next-gen shark-eating madness.

Another thing to make a mental note of is the upgrade will support previous progressions. So if you played part of the game on a PS4 and end up getting a PS5, all of your data will transfer over. That’s nice because you don’t have to start over unless you really want to.

If you have held out on playing Maneater, it really is a fun time. The developer didn’t take the game too seriously when making it. They knew what type of themes and ideas that wanted to incorporate from the beginning and that vision comes through well in this game.

Maneater even has a campaign that follows a reality TV show, narrated by the famous Chris Parnell. It has a lot of fun elements scattered throughout. It’s the evolution part of being a shark that has pleased a lot of players.

Growing and developing new skills never ceases to be fun. You’re constantly looking for an edge over other predators and shark hunters in the sea. Being able to check out this action on a next-gen console sounds like a great time.
