This sudden 2K release gave us a sneak peek into the Season 8 rewards, with its reactions going in all directions. Some gamers are super-hyped about it, others have opened the roast gates, and some-third are begging for some locker codes. That’s the classic 2K community mayhem.
This tweet from NBA 2K showed a few reward previews, including some more mascots, animations, and other sorts of stuff from in-game. But instead of peak hype, there was an unfortunate mixture of excitement, frustration, and bafflement in the reply section. @SelfMadeZecae took to mascot rewards, screaming, “MASCOT THIS THE LAST ONE I NEED TO BUY 🔥🔥🔥.” Contrary to that, @D_4HUNNID was all shade, mocking the grind and skips: “Lmao and people be grinding or buying level skips just to get the same rewards every season yall love getting finessed 😂.”
Then there’s @Ketchup_NMuS, who went all in detective-mode on the devs with their washingly naked alibi: “1500 animations and we didn’t get nun of them yall the biggest liers and frauds.” That’s a bold claim, and if you believe gamers, they’ll remember it. And @KingCipher513 doubled down, asking, “Where is the 1500 different ones yal spoke off in the beginning of the year 😂.” It might just be that someone at 2K overpromised.
Then there were happy ones: @JaetynLevy2027 was living his dream, tweeting, “I always wanted to be a city sentinel in my favorite basketball game in the world! Thanks 2K! 😀👍🏼.”, Then there was @CryptoDominence, woefully upset about one missing mascot: “HOW YOU FORGOT THE ROCKETS MASCOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you CRAZY!!!!!” All caps, several exclamation marks—this person was serious about it.
Well, the real tea here is several players have started eyeing 2023 now. “I hope y’all step y’all game up tremendously next year……….” said @SoSolid882k, whereas @eyeamsyy straight-up demanded, “It’s last season, bring a lil arcade style play to next gen man.” The beloved praise of the current-gen says otherwise to what 2K thought.
Then, the classic 2K complaint about rewards not showing up started. “i can’t level up if you don’t give me my levels” said one stark complaint from @typosez, while @iNateHigz said, “Fix the game. 406 Day season timer? Most people not getting Pass rewards either.” Yikes! If players aren’t even getting what they earned, that’s a problem.
Oh, and someone said, @Brandon_Nickels throwing shade at 2K’s MyTeam mode: “You guys need to study MLB the Shows formula/format for myteam their game is way more fun and rewarding.” Looks like someone has been playing The Show and liking it too much, huh?
At the end of the day, Season 8 is here, and the rewards are… well, they’re something. What players say really depends if they love them or hate them, but NBA 2K community is always outspoken. The loud mouths for once actually make it fun. That makes us wonder-if there is anyone with a locker code?
