That strange tweet had just come out: “try watching the games… it’s a lot safer than playing!” and squid-themed drops. And that is just… The entire internet had THOUGHTS.

The Fortnite account had thrown this very problematic little thing out there about some squid-tastic Drops, and then the players so to speak looked at each other and wondered… since when has Fortnite ever come out and said, “Don’t play”? The text even sported some weird squid-themed artwork, almost like something that could’ve come out of Netherless’ rendition of Squid Game, only with a weird Fortnite twist.

The gamers flooded replies, starting with confusion and eventually demanding new skins. @xGhostblade summed it up quite well by stating, “Did you just tell people not to play your game?💀” Yeah, that is an honest question. Other replies, like the one from @LivemusicCJ, were, essentially, “Honestly, I’d rather play than watch someone else on Twitch.”

But the demands for skins made the whole drama even more intense. @MeloKirstein lost their mind, saying, “Try adding AoT back to the store, and a wave 2… it’ll make you a lot of money!” Meanwhile, @WJD1397 pleaded, in all caps, “EPIC GAMES!! ADD NIGHTWING AND MORE BATFAMILY MEMBERS FOR THE SUPER SEASON, AND MY LIFE IS YOURS!🗣️🗣️🗣️.”

Now, with all that squid imagery being brandished about, comparisons to Squid Game couldn’t be stopped. Multiple users referenced the Netflix hit, with @xzernias_ pleading, “where’s the front man?,” while @FortniteXRE demanded, “Put them in shop with the front man skin that we deserve.” And then there’s @Plasma_Bladesxx jokingly saying, “Can’t believe they added Splatoon” – which is probably true because that squid imagery could definitely come from Splatoon.

However, that didn’t stop some players from already claiming their wins. @vDarth_Bruce just casually said,” Already got em,” while @DarknightJello declared, “Finished with that, and Squid Game Season 3” – okay, overachiever.

This also sparked some side discussions. @ratedpaulie was quick to plug their stream, saying, “I’ve started streaming and I’d love to crack 100 followers,” and @ItsCass9 gave some gameplay requests: “• Bring back Team Rumble • Make Blitz permanent • Vault Training Grounds.” Just a normal day in the Fortnite community.

What is wild are the things teased for Fortnite. The squid imagery, the weird “watch don’t play” suggestion, the mysterious drops. Are we heading for a Squid Game collaboration? A new Splatoon-ish mode? Or is this just Epic Games having one of its own laughs?

One thing is a given-the Fortnite community will already be pouring over every pixel of that artwork tomorrow to come up with fifty different conspiracy theories. And honestly? We’re very much here for it. If this turns out to be an actual game mode, funky cosmetics, or just another classic Fortnite troll job, the reactions have already made it worthwhile.

Excuse us; we’ll be refreshing the item shop every 30 minutes until the Front Man skin drops because Epic Games will be truly insane if they don’t drop it.
