Here was one of the glorious glamours scratched out for Destiny 2‘s Buried Bloodline that Bungie teased, and the reactions from the players… well, let’s just say there was a big mix. It gave some wholesale slick armor vibes from the core Destiny 2 realm, and there was much to say: some were very hype, some raining salt into the mix, and everything hazy in between!
The good: Being neon-future was just too much for some players; some called it “sick,” while one would say their “fave exotic.” Colors pop; design fresh. For every outfit hoarder out there, that is the sort of drip that makes grinding worth it, or at least should.
But on the other hand… The other player perspective, however, these latter players are simply fed up with the dungeon grind that is required for acquiring Buried Bloodline. An enterprising Guardian has 48 clears under his belt and not yet received one; another flatly refused to run it again, describing drop rates as “dog water”.
The Eververse debate was further ignited by that. One player accused the developer for “doing everything in their power to push us away” by hiding cool cosmetics behind microtransactions instead of rewarding players through gameplay. The rest simply demanded other forms of ornaments, like Tex Mechanica or the tactical Punisher looks.
Then there were arguments over art style: It was “cartoonish” for some players, while others pleaded Bungie to “stop with this art style please.” Then, the rest even questioned if this was supposed to drop during Lightfall because of those retro-futuristic vibes.
On the bright side, there were also some responses not full of complaints. Some people were busy splitting into fashion loadouts, asking for matching shaders or armor pieces inspired by this. And you got the classic Destiny question: should we get a buff or a catalyst, please? Because why settle for looking cool if you can actually be cool?
And here comes the gist of it all. This space is all about hype extended to the newest cosmetic, grievances about grind walls, and art direction debates for infinity. So will this ornament drag players back to the dungeon? Or will the drop rate keep them away? Time will tell or so will a patch.
But beyond this, the one thing that stays: Looking good in Destiny is not just about looking good. Fashion is a whole mood, a statement; and sometimes the freaking dance of destiny to try to obtain. But hey… that’s the game we all love to love-scream about.
