Trials of Osiris is back in Destiny 2-for a few more weeks of rotation map cycles, as prompted by Bungie’s plans-all as seen in the somewhat conflicted Twitter reply. The Destiny 2 Team posted, setting the Cathedral of Dusk as this weekend’s fighting ground, then two rotations, each of three maps, for the weeks leading to The Edge of Fate. Replies to that, however, all went nuts in wild and crazy mixtures of hype, frustration, and just plain comical confusion.

It would begin with the feared Cathedral of Dusk: with long sightlines and strange pacing. More groans from the players than you’d want. “Cathedral……. so by the time you get to the capture point it’s already active with a floaty warlock with a scout is already hard scoped,” said one. Ouch. Then, there were those echoing @itsdukebtw: “Not Cathedral of Dusk, that’s for sure.” You really can’t blame them; those scout rifle campers are probably the very caricature of all stereotypes in the game on this map.

However, not everything was bleak. Some would immediately go on to state their dream maps for the upcoming rotations. Burnout, Javelin-4, and Endless Vale are like a holy trinity that garnered the most fan responses for inclusion. “@gard54d2 said, ‘Jav, burnout, eventide labs,'” while “@OrganicMirror55 added, ‘great vibes and a great last week for trials.'” @aiiygatorz couldn’t take it and shouted in all caps, “CIRRUS PLAZA SUPREMACY ANSWER MY PRAYERS!!!!” We feel you Aiiy.

The less positive kind came in full pressure. @GODOZZY dismissed Trials altogether by saying, “nothing but scumbag cheater in there.” Meanwhile, @chriswelch123 said, “Sorry, not playing this pile anymore.” Ouch. Then, @Cro0kedSmile bit the bullet with caps-lock screaming, “How about new paid content instead of wasting time talking about FREE content.” Somebody’s not happy with Stasis right now, that much is clear.

Bungie, of course, would step in to clarify at least something, such as when @DestinyTheGame confirmed that Javelin-4 was coming back later, but that brought on even more questions. @14Warlock classyly responded, “So we were lying? One of not THE?” More drama.

Then came the wildcards. @dudelove1887 said, “Tell me you camp stump without telling me you camp stump. #stumpking.” No clue with this one, but it smells of an inside joke which we aren’t cool enough to get. Meanwhile, @somedaze23 went full meme with, “new fone… who dis?” Classic.

Ultimately, Trials will continue to be a strong opinion repellent. Some players really want to get on their favorite maps; others are in fact rage-quitting at the mention of them, while some stay just for the chaotic nature of it all. With The Edge of Fate imminent, it will be interesting to see whether or not Bungie is going to finally get their act together and develop upon feedback or if the community is just going to be condemned to endure yet another weekend of Cathedral of Dusk.

One thing is at least certain: Destiny 2’s PvP community is nothing if not amusing in character. One way or the other, Trials of Osiris always say goodbye. So, while you excuse us, we’ll be working on our scout rifle aim. It is never too soon.
