Unless the Trials of Osiris creates more memories this weekend in Destiny 2, it surely will remain more execrable. Bungie announced the return of the high-stake PvP mode with Cathedral of Dusk as the featured map and Tomorrow’s Answer (Adept) as a reward. Player responses? Let’s just say they were…mixed. More on the lines of negative.
Let’s begin with Cathedral of Dusk. Such a map, really. It has certainly been divided over the years, but nowadays, one word would be: atrocious. One player said, “At this point yall have to be TRYING to get the Trials numbers to go down.” Another one sarcastically exclaims, “This is an INSANE map selection!!” (Meaning it’s not a good thing). Another player has yet another go and exclaimed: “Y’all actually want to kill the game.” Ouch.
The map is not the only problem at hand. The complaints about the weapon reward keep on piling up. Tomorrow’s Answer (Adept) was just there for a few weeks. One player exclaimed, “Wasn’t the weapon tomorrow’s answer just a few weeks ago?” Sort of notions like this do not go well within the hardcore circle of players of Bungie, especially when Trials are to be considered the ultimate competitive Destiny.
It just doesn’t get solved; the accusing voice gets louder. Some are convinced Bungie is trolling them. “Please say sike 🙏🏻,” begged one player. Another jocularly remarked, “Trials maps just like your balancing decisions 🔥🔥🔥” (and that really sums it up). And always, that call is made: “Give us Destiny 3.”
Here’s a twist. Not everyone hates it. The popular community account, Destiny Bulletin, fired back, “Don’t listen to the replies destinythegame, this is the best pvp map in the game.” Quite a bold opinion. Off-the-rails bold.
That set roll downhill, and I can tell you now that it went into a beast-filled, land of grievances about Trials, ad nauseam, insistently begging for rework. Among the suggestions were: to split sweats into their own bracket, keep cross-play off, and build a solid anti-cheat system. “Cheaters need to be getting banned because obviously Bungie doesn’t have an Anti Cheat if they did where is it,” cried one player.
Followed by the crazy replies. “This is what happens when u inhale too much hair dye and nail polish,” was one theory. Another simply stated, “Another scout map 💀💀💀,” perfect commentary for the extended pain inflicted by Cathedral of Dusk.
Programs-the verdict? Trials of Osiris is possibly happening; however, far from being the thing this community wants to acclaim. The map choice, recycled rewards, and a still buzzing issue of cheats and matchmaking all do not bode well for Bungie to have to do some serious damage control if it wishes to retain player engagement. Will they listen? That, my friends, is the real question worth asking. For now, grab your Adept weapon if you can stomach the grind and strap in for a Trials-filled weekend of chaos.
I guess, thank God for that, it means…it isn’t Exodus Blue again. Right? Right??
