Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has had a reasonable amount of success since it first came out. Initially, fans were skeptical since this latest installment was not including a single-player story mode. However, after some time getting used to strictly online play, many fans of the series adjusted.

What the game lacks in story is made up for in exciting multiplayer gameplay. This game even has its own battle royale mode called Blackout. It’s one of the better battle royale games that you can find today, quite honestly. The combat mechanics are great and so are the visuals.

Blackout thus far has only had one map. It’s a great map, but gamers have been waiting for another one to come along. Well, it appears this wait is finally over. For those who have this game on PS4, they’ll be able to get the new map on April 2.

The map will be called Alcatraz. This location has been prominently featured in so many popular action movies of the late 90s and early 2000s. It’s an iconic location, one that could work extremely well for this battle royale mode.

Unlike the original map that came for Blackout when it first rolled out, Alcatraz will be much smaller. This makes sense considering it is an island. What does this smaller map mean to players, though? Well, you can be certain it will force close quarters combat, where the slightest move must be strategically planned to avoid being gunned down.

Fighting in close proximity with other players is what makes battle royale games so fun. There’s no room for error, and within seconds, you’ll probably find yourself engaged in a heated battle with multiple players. It makes the mode much more difficult and exciting on all levels.

Alcatraz will include plenty of tall buildings, tight corridors, and watchtowers for players to work around. They should make for great covers while players are reloading or trying to plan out their next attack.

This map is a great addition to an already fun mode. As mentioned earlier, smaller levels always force the action between players. Conversely, larger stages take quite some time to run into other enemies. At certain points, you’ll be running for seemingly forever until the action picks up. Alcatraz will not be this level.
