Blizzard has announced that they’ll be performing an extended maintenance tomorrow during the weekly reset maintenance. This is expected to take significantly longer than the typical maintenance usually takes to complete.

“We will be performing scheduled maintenance beginning on Tuesday, November 17th, 7:00 AM (PST) and we expect the service to be available again at approximately 3:00 PM (PST),” their notice goes. “During this time the game will be unavailable for play.”

This isn’t too surprising, given that this is the last weekly maintenance period before the release of World of Warcraft: Shadowlands on November 23rd, which will also be a Tuesday (likely with an extended maintenance for players).

Even not counting that this is the last weekly maintenance, there are still a massive number of changes being pushed out with this maintenance. Blizzard is adding changes to nearly every class, with some being quite extensive, so the patch will be considerably sizeable.

There are also plenty of item changes that are going to be hitting the live servers, such as the last-minute nerfs to trinkets that we discussed earlier today. Blizzard is closing out Battle for Azeroth with one final kick to the power levels of players.

All of this is set to get players into the proper form to take on the content of the Shadowlands with the appropriate power level. There’s been plenty of work going on to make sure that characters are kept at the appropriate power level for the new expansion, and this seems to be the final step.

Blizzard is coming close to hitting the deadline that they set in late October, after having to delay the Shadowlands expansion further down the year. Still able to get it in before the year ended, players are just excited to finally get their hands on the expansion.

The hype train is hitting record speeds by now, with the Scourge Invasion event now well underway. Players have been enjoying the prepatch with new customizations, new content, and getting used to the new leveling system.

Earlier today, the developers also released a new cinematic for the expansion, likely the final teaser we’ll see. The new expansion gives us a look into the five primary zones of the expansion – Revendreth, Bastion, Ardenweald, Maldraxxus, and the Maw – as well as a look at some future bosses.

All of this combines into a simple conclusion – get ready! Blizzard is ticking off the last tasks on their checklist to finish the expansion, with this extended maintenance being one of the final steps. We’ll be marching into the new content soon!
