Developer nWAy has continued to update the fighting game Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid since it launched in 2019. The game was released with a set of characters, but each season comes with new characters and outfits.
Recently, nWay presented a question to the community on Twitter. The developer asked if players would be interested in the “Street Fighter Rangers” that appeared in the console version of the game. As soon as the question was posted, fans began reacting with thousands of replies, “likes,” and retweeting the post to share their thoughts.
While the question isn’t a confirmation that a Street Fighter collaboration is in the works, fans have strong thoughts about it. Many of the comments were positive, while others expressed their opinion of wanting other series collaborations instead, such as X-Men or Dragon Ball.
Street Fighter Rangers have already appeared in Power Rangers media. Characters from the long-running fighting game franchise had special “Ranger Forms” in a Power Rangers: Legacy Wars collaboration. The mobile game was also developed by nWay, so the outfits already exist in some form.
In 2018, Power Rangers: Legacy Wars collaborated with Street Fighter as “guest fighters.” Ryu, Guile, Chun-Li, Akuma, Cammy, and M. Bison made an appearance. Ryu Ranger and Chun-Li Ranger, who used Power Ranger-forms, were included as original special characters. The mobile game has continued to host collaborations with other franchises.
The collaboration with Legacy Wars also spawned a short film produced called Bat in the Sun called Power Rangers: Legacy Wars – Street Fighter Showdown. The cast included Jason David Frank as Tommy Oliver, Ciara Hanna as Gia Moran plus live-action appearances of Ryu, Chun-Li, and M. Bison.
After making the post, nWay did not comment any further. The developer was working on the release of Lauren Shiba, Red Ranger from Power Rangers Samurai, who is the newest DLC character. Players who want to stay updated for any possible collaboration news can follow the developer’s official social media accounts for Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid.
There is currently no news if nWay plans to go through with plans of a Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid and Street Fighter collaboration. Players and fans have made it clear they’re interested in the collaboration moving forward.
Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Google Stadia.
