It’s Becoming Harder And Harder To Find A Nintendo Switch Thanks To Coronavirus Pandemic

Now that people are having to self-quarantine more and more in response to the coronavirus pandemic, the gaming industry is booming in a lot of ways. People have a lot of time on their hands in isolation and gaming during these darker times definitely helps pass the time.

Since there are more people gaming today, there has been a surge in Nintendo Switch sales. In fact, it has gotten to the point where this popular hybrid console is becoming increasingly harder to find. You look at the most popular distribution channels like Amazon and Walmart being sold out of the unit entirely. That is particularly true for the standard Nintendo Switch, which retails for around $300 or less.

With the shortage of Switch units, there is an increase in costs from third-party sellers. Do you pay a couple of hundred dollars more because of shortage issues or do you wait until this pandemic calms down a bit? That’s the question a lot of people are asking themselves right now when trying to get their gaming on.

The shortage also shows the popularity of the Nintendo Switch, even still in 2020. Despite it debuting all the way back in 2017, it still continues to sell well and garner a lot of attention. It’s not hard to see why when you take into account everything this console offers.

Not only does it have an amazing library of games with plenty of diversity, the Switch has a hybrid design. You can plug it into the console port and play games on a TV like traditional consoles. Or, if you want to take your gaming on the go or just move to another room, you can use the Switch’s mobile screen.

It’s not hard to see why so many people want to get their hands on this console during their days of self-quarantine. There doesn’t seem to be an end in sight in terms of this pandemic, so it’s safe to assume self-quarantine recommendations will be in place for a little while longer. That also probably means Switch units will still be hard to come by.

It’s not impossible, though. There are a lot of third-party sellers right now that may be willing to work out a deal. Hopefully, though, major outlets like Walmart, Best Buy and Amazon get some more units on their shelves. Gaming is the thing to do right now and it would be nice to see this need being met for everyone interested.
