The end of the year is fast approaching, and gamers are looking forward to the games coming in early 2020. Before the new year begins, it means reflecting on the games released in 2019 and how they may have made an impact.
The Golden Joystick Awards, also known as the People’s Gaming Awards, have been hosting various voting opportunities for months. This award ceremony celebrates achievement in all of the video games for the year. It has one of the highest number of votes cast for a video game award ceremony, so the nominees take their nominations seriously.
The 37th Golden Joystick Awards has recently announced its list of nominees for 2019. The list includes Apex Legends, Resident Evil 2, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice.
Nominees also include recent releases, such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, The Outer Worlds, and Untitled Goose Game. While these games have only been out a short time, they’ve already been a memorable experience for many players.
Voting for the general categories like Best Storytelling and Studio of the Year has already ended last week.
There are several titles up for multiple awards this year. Outer Wilds, an open-world mystery game, leads the pack with six nominations. Remedy Entertainment’s Control has three nominations.
Games with three nominations in various categories include Metro Exodus, Days Gone, Tetris Effect, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
The awards ceremony also has two new categories: Best Gaming Hardware and Best Game Expansion. While Best Gaming Hardware includes gaming phones and components used in gaming, Best Game Expansion highlights major updates in online games.
The Game of the Year Award is gamers’ last chance to give their say in the 37th Golden Joystick Awards. The winner is decided according to user votes, so every vote makes a huge difference.
Voting ends on Friday, November 1 and players can vote online on the awards’ ceremony website.
The host of the 37th awards ceremony is Danny Wallace, who appeared as Shaun Hastings in the Assassin’s Creed game series.
While the awards ceremony is a vital part of the show, it’s not the only reason to watch. Scattered throughout the show are exclusive trailers for upcoming games. Also planned are interviews with various developers and creators, along with “Making of” documentaries.
The 37th Golden Joystick Awards will be livestreamed from London’s Bloomsbury Big Top on November 15, 2019.
