The Sims 4 players on PC received a massive content update at the end of 2020. The update was part of EA and Maxis‘ promise to add in more diverse content and improve existing content.
EA also included the massive update for Mac and console players, but unfortunately, there were some issues. These players had to wait for months before the update to the update came their way, but now the developer has found a solution. While Mac players have access to mods, console players are restricted to the content officially released so far.
The skin tone update adds over 100 different color options to the game. The colors are all further categorized by cool, neutral, warm, and miscellaneous colors. These colors are an additional option for those who want to utilize some of the game’s more unique options like Plant Sims, Vampires, Aliens, and more.
While players can choose a basic skin tone color in the Create-a-Sim (CAS) screen, the update allows players to adjust the colors with a color slider. Players can further adjust these colors for players with a certain tone in mind.
The update also added color sliders for makeup. Some of the makeup options are very vivid and bright. With the new sliders, players can adjust the transparency or opacity for a more subtle look.
The developer further improved the compression for both new and exciting skin tones. This is an additional improvement that includes strengthening the quality of suntans and sunburns.
Three more base game hairstyles were improved in the major update. This includes children’s hairstyles like the braided ponytail with baby hairs, without baby hairs, and the flat-top texture hairstyle.
These updates don’t mean the end of improvements for The Sims 4 for all players. The developer stated last year that the improvements are a journey and not a destination. With every update, the developer will further improve on existing content in the game.
EA is also working with some of the Game Changers within The Sims community. With their input, they are taking suggestions on how to improve the in-game CS content to be more inclusive.
The Sims 4 skin tone improvement update is coming to Mac, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in late March.
