With so many upcoming games being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many began to wonder if the next Call of Duty game was still on track to be released later this year, as the franchise typically launches its newest game each October/November. As of right now though, the game is still scheduled to be released later this year, and according to Activision, it “looks great.”

While speaking with investors, Bobby Kotick, who is Activision’s chief executive officer, said that the next Call of Duty game “already looks great and remains on track for release later this year.” Unfortunately, no additional details were provided regarding the next COD game.

There’s been no official news regarding Call of Duty 2020’s setting, but some are speculating that Treyarch will relaunch Black Ops. Of course, Treyarch developed and launched the original Balck Ops game back in 2010.

According to The Gaming Revolution, the popular Zombies mode will return in the next Call of Duty game, and that there are already files in the game which indicate that TranZit, a map from Black Ops II, has already been remastered for COD 2020.

Also, TGR said that the Zombies mode in Call of Duty 2020 will feature a mix of new maps and remasters of old maps, which fits the trend of the last few games in the franchise, which also featured a mixture of old and new maps.

As of right now, it’s unclear when Treyarch and Activision will reveal the next Call of Duty game. Last year, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was first revealed at the end of May, so we might be just a few weeks away from the official reveal.

For now, though, Activision and Modern Warfare developer Infinity Ward have been pushing out regular updates for Call of Duty: Warzone, with the latest one featuring the following updates for both MW multiplayer and Warzone’s BR.

  • Replacing BR Solos with BR Stimulus Solos
  • Height & radius at which parachuting enemy players are called out has been reduced (BR).
  • Adding helicopters back (BR).
  • Shipment 24/7 becomes Shipment 10v10 (MW)
  • Adding 3v3 Gunfight Knives Only (MW)

The Stimulus Solos mode in Call of Duty: Warzone disables the Gulag, meaning that the only way players can respond is by spending in-game currency. In the mode, each player will begin the match with $4,500, and you drop half of it when you die. Also, the ability to respawn is disabled in the second to last circle.
