A Portuguese website called GamingReplay may have made a major mistake, leaking the box art, release window, and existence of the much rumored Mass Effect Remastered Trilogy.

What’s more, the website confirmed that it would be out for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch. While the first two seemed like a given, the fact that Mass Effect could be coming to Nintendo is major breaking news.

The ability to take the Mass Effect trilogy on the go using the Switch’s handheld gameplay would be new ground for this long storied franchise.

The page, which has since been deleted, listed the game as coming out in October 2020.

Mass Effect is one of the most epic and storied sci fi action RPGs of all time. While BioWare was put on the map through Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic, it solidified itself as a major studio with the release of Mass Effect.

At first, Mass Effect was an Xbox 360 exclusive title. However, the sequels, Mass Effect 2 and 3, were brought onto the PlayStation 3. The original game was later given a re-release for PlayStation as well.

Mass Effect was one of the first RPGs to give your actions and choices an unprecedented level of meaning. Not only did your every choice dictate the game’s outcome, but your actions carried over into the next game in the series thanks to a revolutionary system which allowed you to upload your saved game when a new title came out.

This includes your custom Commander Shepard, complete with their gender, appearance, and backstory fully intact.

Of course, it wasn’t all smooth sailing for this franchise. Mass Effect 3 saw a lot of controversy, with many criticizing the ending, which felt rushed and incomplete. What’s more, a franchise defined by choice had you go through the ending sequence on rails. There was no final boss encounter and your choices really didn’t matter in the end.

Not only that, but the ending left a slew of unanswered questions as to the fate of our heroes.

It was so universally despised that BioWare was forced to put out free DLC that gave you conversation options during the final encounter and added an epilogue along with some additional cutscenes to fill in some of the story gaps.

Of course, BioWare has not confirmed the existence of this title, but many believe it is just a matter of time before we get some kind of official announcement.
