Square Enix has confirmed that its mobile game Dragon Quest Tact will launch outside of Japan. The game was previously released in Japan a few months ago, but now more players will have the opportunity to play it.

Along with the global launch announcement was news that the game is available to pre-register on Google Play. Those who pre-register on Android devices will also have a chance to be chosen for the Early Access version. Dragon Quest Tact will also launch on iOS, but will not have an Early Access version for that specific platform.

Dragon Quest Tact is a free-to-play tactical RPG. Players collect, befriend, and train monsters from the Dragon Quest series to use in battle. The story takes place within the world of Orchesterra, where an evil force has almost destroyed the once peaceful land.

A legendary hero created a loyal band of monsters to fight against the evil threat. After ages of peace, the evil forces have once again arisen, and it’s up to the player to once again befriend monsters and fight off the enemy.

The combat takes place in grids, where players can attack an enemy surrounding it, or wait. Monsters can unleash powerful attacks and become the ultimate team. The gameplay is played in a vertical orientation so players can get up-close and personal with some of the colorful enemies on the screen.

The Japanese version of the game celebrated over 10 million downloads. Square Enix considered the game’s launch a huge success, which inspired its global launch.

Dragon Quest Tact is a mobile spin-off of the popular Dragon Quest game that launched in 1986 and has sold over 82 million copies in its lifetime. The game is considered the very first console RPG.

Newcomers to Dragon Quest Tact don’t have to have any prior experience with the franchise. The game is easy to pick up for newcomers but provides enough recognizable content for long-time fans of the franchise.

The game does not yet have an official release date. Those interested in learning more about Dragon Quest Tact can follow the developer on social media. The official website for the game also has a popup to sign up for the game’s email newsletter.

Dragon Quest Tact launches on iOS and Android soon.
