Now that we’re a little under three months away from the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, developer Infinity Ward hasn’t been shy about rolling out content, with the most notable reveal being, at least as of this writing, the 2v2 Gunfight mode. Of course, they’re currently scheduled to do a full multiplayer reveal via a live stream on August 1, where they’ll presumably show off everything the online-based mode has to offer.
As for what characters will look like when players go online, well, according to Joel Emslie, who is Infinity Ward’s studio art director, the customization options will be “realistic and relevant.”
Unfortunately, Infinity Ward’s art director didn’t get into the specifics of the game’s customization options. But, if the game is going to feature realistic and relevant customization options, that that likely means that players will no longer be able to wield multi-colored or golden guns.
Aside from the customization options being realistic, there have only been two things confirmed regarding Modern Warfare’s multiplayer, one of which is that you’ll be able to use a female character, which is hardly something new. The other is that killstreaks, not scorestreaks, will be featured in the upcoming Call of Duty game.
Infinity Ward will probably reveal a ton about the multiplayer gameplay on August 1, but it’s unlikely that they’ll get too deep into the character customization options, as most people will probably be more interested in seeing as much action as possible.
Even though the developers have revealed quite a bit about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, it still feels like, multiplayer aside, there’s still a ton of things that they’ve left in the dark, with the most notable one being the Spec Ops mode, which is rumored to be a free-to-play, open-world mode.
On top of that, it’s been heavily rumored that the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will also feature a Battle Royale mode, much like last year’s CoD: Black Ops 4. Whether or not it’ll be included at launch is still unknown.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will also include a single-player campaign, which was showcased in the game’s reveal trailer back in May. Since then, we haven’t seen much of anything centered around CoD: MW’s single-player mode, but that’ll likely change as we get closer to the October 25 release date.
Like with all other Call of Duty games, Modern Warfare will be available on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and at some point, the Nintendo Switch.
