From the set of topics that players in VALORANT discuss, few can rival map rotation. The last time Riot Games asked the community which map should leave the Competitive Rotation and which one should replace it, the question really stirred debate. The answers-them-there were expressed with plenty of emphasis.
First of all, Icebox is the most hated map among them. Some players, including TruthNRP and Itz_NotDelo, would want Icebox out of the map rotation; some even said the map should be “nuked from the game code.” Ouch. Contrarily, KuromeAce and GatitoPeluo look to see Bind return to rotation, calling it “motherfing GOAT.” Other views for Pearl grant it the same amount of heat, with some players such as Melain Violet and FahZohh opining that it ought to be switched for Bind.
Breeze is not spared in all this chaos. Albanmadridista called it trash, while Qurebb bellowed, “ANYTHING BUT BREEZE PLEASEEEE.” A few others, such as Noiruto_77, say that Breeze is fine where it is. Then again, the chaos continues: some want Fracture back (miqillaaa), hate Lotus (darkcheese_), or beg Riot to put down a new map (which we all agree is LED LIGHTS).
The weirdest take? Minermon5 decided to go scorched-earth and called for Pearl to be “burned from records” immediately alongside the reinstatement of Breeze. Oh, with a middle finger emoji. Nearly as bad.
What is the end result? In fact, the map pool in VALORANT is an everyday discussion, and with that said, Riot will have some very hard decisions to make in the near future. Whichever way they go, whether listening to the players or going against their own storyline, one thing about which the players will never be silent is this.
If you detest Icebox or Pearl that much, queue up and pray that you do not get those maps right now. Otherwise, scream wittingly along with the rest of us. And that is where the debate stands.
