Ever since ValorantUpdated described it as being the “BEST Cypher Setup on Split,” there has been a flurry of activity in the VALORANT community. However, not all agree with this notion. Some people call it trash, while others defend it as a legitimate strategic choice. What then makes this setup so debatable?

First, we must understand that Cypher, the sentinel with a heavy emphasis on surveillance, places his traps and camera on Split to watch over important areas. Re-tweeting the original handle and the link to the setup clip seems to have generated a mixed reception for the clip. Some users, like @Kw33S, felt this setup could only pass muster in the lowest ranks, labeling it “one of the worst setups, probably only working in lower-ranked lobbies like Silver or Iron.” Pretty harsh, huh?

@Liayn_ was also lost for words with all the bashing: “so much wrong with it.” While the bashing went on, a few players like @deft0nels0n were intrigued by the setup, and they considered saving the clip for later. Critical statements still arose: “@JamukhaZ thought enemies probably wouldn’t be standing around waiting for Cypher to finish his setup, especially with the pre-round barrier in play.” Reasonable- if it takes too long, the enemy team might have started pushing down your traps before they are even active.

Another conflict of usefulness was raised by @Chro_g who wondered if that heaven one-way setup could even end in favor of the attackers, thus making it highly risky for them. Meanwhile, @SuguhaXDin, although acknowledging the setup would work against a rush, added that “a sneaky flanker could come jumping over the tripwire and leave Cypher exposed.”

That much said, the proceedings kept growing chaotic. @Massao456 and @anoveas somehow contributed more appreciative sounds alongside some nasty banter. Meanwhile, @Thatdude_Kilo felt it was his time to hijack the thread for some brightly colored ad-slinging for Battlefront 3, because hey, why not?

So is this really the “BEST” Cypher setup on Split? Depends on who you ask. Some swear by it; others say it’s a recipe for disaster. Truth is, smack dab in the middle: like most setups, it really can go either way depending on the situation.

One thing for sure: VALORANT players love to argue about strategies, and this setup will be no exception. Whether you’re a Cypher main hardcore trying to add something to the repertoire or in it for fun, watching this clip with the community will definitely be worth it. However, don’t expect everyone to agree on whether it’s worth the time.

At the end of the day, VALORANT is about adaptation. What works for you today might be the death of you tomorrow. So, if you’re trying out this setup, go in with a bunch of backup plans, because I doubt your main plan is going to come together so well; and if it does, well, you have one hilarious clip to share.
