This is an utterly feel-good VALORANT tale Riot has thrown at us while the community buzzed and basically argued, as expected. The official VALORANT Twitter account released a mini-documentary about French players Loupiote and Mel whose competitive antagonism blossomed into a friendship, sculpting the French VALORANT landscape. Now the clip from the #YOURVALSTORIES series tells us how, after numerous hours of ranked grinding against each other, these two became the pillars behind the Game Changers circuit.
The mess just keeps unfolding again on VALORANT Twitter, need I say more? There goes a section of fans who got excited and exclaimed the duo to be “French legends” and cheered for women in esports; others, well… really, not the least bit interested in the whole matter. One respondent went downright wild by stating “literally who cares,” while another wanted Riot to “fix ur game” instead of posting fluff. Classic indeed.
Thereafter, a posse of responses are focused on some other player, Flor, who has been shaking stuff in the VALORANT scene. Riot is presently being roasted for not stating her name in the tweet; an aside mocked, “Now do a video about the story of how Flor raped someone.” Yikes! More voices came to give notions about legalities preventing Riot from naming certain players, but the fiery comments’ flow was scarcely discouraged.
In between are a few – arguable from the noise- the usual random requests: “nerf aim assist,” “add settings,” “is VALORANT coming to Mac?” – Cos no Riot tweet can be complete without a few pandemonium requests. Someone even genuinely thought this video was a teaser for a new agent (Disappointments activated.)
Good wholesome content for the willing ones, though. Respect to the few who actually appreciated the story of Loupiote and Mel, calling it “respectful” and “inspirational.” Game Changers is a big deal for Riot to give a spotlight to women and marginalized genders in VALORANT while a small and loud subset of the community cannot handle it without tantrums.
So yeah, Riot is trying to celebrate these community stories, and the internet just went on with its favorite pastime: turning EVERYTHING into a battleground. Will this do anything, anytime soon? Probably not. But at least the story of Loupiote and Mel is out there, so the very few who side with said communities may actually smile alongside the keyboard wars.
Also, for those wondering when VALORANT will finally get its next big update….sorry again, nothing more to offer on that. But hey, maybe tuning into Game Changers this year. That might actually be worth it. Or, you know, just back to screaming for a nerf. Whatever floats your boat.
