The whole VALORANT community is abuzz with talks regarding the new map, Corrode, and the agents that dominate on these chaotic grounds. Some of them swear by a flash-heavy duelist line-up, while others swear by control through sentinels, or outright despise the map. The fact that Corrode is forming an angry debate over it is a very damning point; definitely, Riot’s newest addition got noticed.

So, what is Corrode, really? If you’ve gotten your hands on it, you already know how funky those tiny little corners and angles are, which are awkward and damn shoot-from-so-many-openings. Some call it a deathmatch map, while others swear it has strategic merit. But that still remains the open question: Which agent is best to pick here?

Vyse is seemingly an early pick, with many praising his flash utility: “Vyse might be OP on Corrode,” statements h0ll0w as most fights happen with short cooldown interval flashes that have a very high amount of preciousness; Vance also agrees with “the enemy literally cannot push B” when he plays Vyse.

Well, that plan was met with resistance from some players who wouldn’t set aside their mains at any cost. “Jett like on all other mapsđź’€,” commented Hettik, affirming that some habits die hard. Then you have folks—like LEGEND—who absolutely love using Yoru’s shenanigans and swear by him as being “the best agent for Corrode anyways.”

Sentinel fans are not going to sit idly by. With Deadlock buffs, they’ll be wanted to carry this to the bank, as Nadi boasts of 75% win-rate on the map. KJ also gets appreciated; apparently, whenever one player plays the tech-savvy defender, he finds himself “kinda liking this map.”

Let’s be real for a minute. Not everybody’s vibing with Corrode. “Hate the map, it gives me depression,” says kenjihoee with one breath that sums up the barrage of frustration that players feel when the layout pretty much holds one involved in a downward spiral. “There are so many corners,” says BlackFramesBran, “that it feels impossible to execute properly.”

And then… there’s Odin strat: “Any agent and 1 think you need is Odin just buy Odin,” says Tuan, proving sometimes it isn’t about agents, just spray through walls and pray.

The wildest take? These players haven’t even SEEN the map. “I don’t fing know I haven’t had it once in 15 games,” admits LukaGG, while another wonders, “Guys how can I get Corrode, did like 25 matches and still never had it.” The infamous Riot map rotation, much?

Whether they like it or not, Corrode is a force to be reckoned with. Exploiting flashes, locking sentinels, or going wild with Odin, one certainty stands: this map isn’t going anywhere. And with players starting to field dominant strategies, the meta will further be on its way to becoming.

Next time Corrode gets pulled in your queue, maybe consider playing Vyse. Or Deadlock. Or just dodge. No judgments.
