It looks like Epic Games basically thrilled FNs players with the abysmally blurry thumbnail shot for a Festival “Deep End” emote in the item shop. The phase glitched, turning phony muddyground for online discussions, with some speculating maybe Epic mixed up files as another emote going by the very same name!

The original Deep End emote, for which Fortnite has had files for quite some time, still goes around with a nice shop image-was it really a decision to make it degrade so terribly? Data miners and players are all in confusion if that was a mistaken swap, seeing as though both emotes have exactly the same name. One Twitter user, @ShiinaBR, speculated that the fact that two emotes exist with identical names might have led to some “messing up” on Epic’s part.

But wait-a-wait: is this even really important? For starters, shop images are normally clean and crisp, so such an aberration stands out like a sore thumb. Players commented jokingly about its quality, with one reply consisting of just a skull emoji (💀), and others seriously questioned “how in the world did Epic sort of release an emote that so badly weighs on their visual reputation.”

That really doesn’t end the confusion. Another player, @DejuRoy, also reminded us of the realization: suddenly, four different Fortnite items are named “Deep End.” Two emotes and two instruments. All that repetition for a single name may make file mix-ups sound pretty plausible.

Meanwhile, the reply box under the original tweet turned into pure meme chaos, spawning off-topic debates about actual exclusives, with some even demanding Epic conjure up actual exclusives. One user, @h22457899, responded, “Nooo I want it to fuck exclusivity,” giving an idea of how passionate the Fortnite crowd may become in the discussion of cosmetics.

On the ironic side though, some people don’t even care about the emote itself. Somebody going by @FntBRS praised it as “a simple dance emote” and asked why this had become such a huge issue. Honestly, they had a point. Given how many of the far-out, gaudy emotes Fortnite has, would one basic dance really make a difference?

On the other hand, it’s…interesting-that the image wasn’t fixed sooner. Maybe they’re too preoccupied with the next big update, or maybe it’s just something nobody really cares to fix. Something went down that can definitely rank as another weird little moment in Fortnite history.

Are they going to actually fix this one? Will they actually come out and say it was an error? Or will the players just have to politely accept pixelated previews as an artistic expression of the identity of this game? Time will tell-all the while. Meanwhile, if you are purchasing the emote, just know what you see is not exactly what you’ll get!

Plus, there’s some small consolation-the community now has something to talk about. Because, frankly, the Very many Fortnite players can debate anything: from low-res emotes to no-show skins and all the way to awkwardly accidental file mixes-the game has never been dull.

Keep an eye on the shop because you never know when Epic Games will throw another curveball. Duplicate names, surprise fixes, or clever storage for memes-whichever way it goes, another day in Fortnite!
