Riot Games have already announced the upcoming changes in competitive map pools with VALORANT Patch 10.08, and the players have begun hypothesizing about what it entails for the ranked grinders. The VALORANT account tweet has not specified anything, but one cannot stop the community from making wild guesses.
So what is going to change in this patch? Well, the last few rotations have stirred… shall we say, contending views? You remember when they just took Split out of commission and then pulled the “Oh no, I am back” on us? Yeah, that energy.
The competitive map pool has pretty much been a revolving door filled with crowd favorites on one side and those that will make everyone want to dodge queue on the other.
Kinda sus, though, with the replies going quiet on this one. Normally, VALORANT players have opinions on map changes-strong ones. This might mean, however, everyone’s busy malding over Discord or on Reddit threads.
Riot has been rotating the map pool every act to keep it fresh just like players want; however, the others want to fix it. Like, just let me master one map before you send it off into a shadow realm for six months.
Others love the chaos though-nothing like loading into a match and realizing you haven’t played this map since the Bush administration.
They have not confirmed which maps will be in or out for Patch 10.08; if the pattern holds, expect one beloved old map to return (Ascent) and the current one to be benched. And maybe Breeze finally gets a break? Or does Icebox get the boot again? And the cycle continues.
To many, it might seem like a whole lot of mess for one week of ranked queue; a lot of players will be learning angles again or trying to figure other ways to throw rounds. Have fun, and hopefully, very few dodges.
