So Tomb Raider went all level 11 on Twitter, and the internet is collectively flipping over it. The official Tomb Raider account tweeted “She wake up, flawless. Boot up, flawless. 🎵” followed by a link to a Spotify playlist called “Doppelgänger’s curated beats.” The tweet goes on to say, “This isn’t just a playlist. It’s for you, with the flaws removed,” with the hashtag #TombRaider attached.
If you’ve had some dirt under your nails, then you know this was not a random playlist drop. The wording. The imagery- it screams “remaster.” Gamers are saying that this is a tip-off towards the long-rumored LAU (Legend, Anniversary, Underworld) Trilogy remaster. And, my God, the evidence is hard to ignore.
The,” flawless,” “flaws removed” bit, of course, sends the players into a frenzy. The LAU trilogy, while much loved, was chock full of bugs, most especially Underworld. So, remastering will literally be that: removing those bugs and polishing up the games. Then there’s the “Doppelgänger” bit, which fans instantly associate with Lara’s evil twin, Cora Loft, from the comics. One user, Joe Eccles, quoted something back: “Oh snap! It’s Lara’s evil twin Cora Loft!”
But what really makes the series is the replies. Okay, the replies! The whole community has just exploded over these tweets. Many are crying out for something to be announced; @heli_crofter wrote: “just drop the lau remastered trailer atp.” Others, like @RossKroft96, pleads, “Maybe before releasing the lau trilogy prematurely please for the love of God fix the other remasters first I beg you.”
Then the chaos begins. Some swear under pressure it’s a 100% confirmation with @ixdanilo posting the meme that says, “LAU remaster coming f.s.” Others, who are vibing to the playlist, are just joking with @JesuisJanice about adding some lyrics, “People say we’re alike / They say we’ve got the same hair.”
But, the thing is—Tomb Raider never actually said anything. This could very well turn out to be nothing more than a cheeky social media campaign. Or…maybe the first steps toward a much larger reveal. The timing is so suspicious, given all that recent chatter about remasters. Let’s be honest: The LAU trilogy is really screaming for a couple of fresh coats of paint.
Well, most of the folks aren’t very happy about all that, however. One user named @ligiainchains started getting all angry, accusing the Tomb Raider team of being unprofessional for staying so long in silence while a new game enters development. “Did you really just block me on TikTok cause I asked for a new game and patch2?” Yikes.
Now, what’s going on? Is this a tease for LAU Remastered or just an artsy playlist promo? Honestly? Your guess is as good as mine. One thing’s for sure: Tomb Raider gamers are invested. Whether they’re hyped up, frustrated, or just being meme bugs, this fandom knows how to make noise and will not stop until being answered.
Still, if nothing works, let’s jam to this playlist while waiting.
