The never-getting-old-of-a-two-year-anniversary approach from the creators institutes a nostalgic aura around the game and utter all it has gone through. Stats, trailers, and fan creations-another thing is being humped up for the strange, extraordinary occasion. However, with the rage strikes come player demands-like protests quoting impassioned cries: “WHERE’S MAKOTO?” and “GIVE US COSTUME 4 ALREADY!”
In a staunch love post, the Official Street Fighter Twitter Account threw some love to thank the community for its battles, combos, and salt over two years. While Capcom drifts into the reminiscing mode, the replies are sometimes wild concoctions of love, complaints, and outright thirst for new content. One player chimed in, “I don’t understand people who ask for skins,” to which another replied, “That’s why you’re not paid the big bucks.” Ouch.
Speaking of skins, Chun-Li stans are out and loud begging for her classic Battle Outfit. But n00buntu gave the bitter truth: “The version everyone wants is never coming back.” RIP in pieces, spandex-clad justice dreams. Meanwhile, the protest continues for theirs—Akira Kazama, Poison, Sakura (seriously, where IS she?), and even Sean from Street Fighter III. The desperation is palpable.
Now, for the meta complaints. One player, Claudio Mate, bitched and complained about still feeling “Russian roulette” in terms of balance in a game two years, patches notwithstanding. Oof. Some want a Steam sale to happen-they all seem very right about that-or Capcom to patch the soundtrack (fair enough; the BGM could slap harder).
And yet there are chill vibes. Some fans said, like Quasimodox in the post, “Thank you so much! I am honored!!” Aww. Others go off about how it has already been two years—half of that time will have them almost forgetting about ranked matches.
You will always have one obligatory “SF6 sucks, SF4 was peak” take. Thanks for keeping the tradition alive, Monk3yB0t. Then, Tekken-bashing begins. What kind of Street Fighter thread would be complete without a little rivalry? One user termed Tekken players as “sweaty incels who haven’t touched grass since 2019.” Woah. Harsh, but…accurate?
And yet, after all these things, Street Fighter 6 is being well-received with over 5 million copies sold (stats courtesy of Sorathegamer7). But now comes the “what next” question. More DLC? Balance patches? A surprise Makoto release to shut everyone up? Only time will tell. For now, happy anniversary, SF6. Here’s to many more years of hype, salt, and what were we asking for? The costumes? Those damn costumes.
