Capcom dropped a million-subscriber announcement on Twitter for the next horror game, Resident Evil Requiem. The meeting of the official Resident Evil account had been, “Requiem for the dead. Nightmare for the over one million of you who wishlisted #ResidentEvilRequiem! Thank you!” And the responses decided to go downright crazy.

First of all, the gamers are hyped-REALLY hyped. @ordinarypinks screamed this in caps, “I’M ONE OF THEM,” while @GeekyTurboMax7 said, “peak 🔥❤️.” But the party didn’t just stop there. The comment section turned into its own wishlist, with requests from platform availability to language support.

For instance, Xbox players ate no moment of joy. @Kai49431731 bluntly asked, “@And on Xbox Store WHEN?…” accompanied by crying-tears emoji, which says it all. PS4 owners feel the salt as well: “@theskeno, Wish it was available for ps4.. like every other game. Can’t afford ps5.” Ouch!

Speaking of relentless: Turkish fans will not stop. The replies demanding localization such as @CkeserIrfa26119 saying, “Please added Turkish language🇹🇷🇹🇷” along with @GuvenEge993 tagging Capcom’s global accounts show how badly they want official translation. Fair well I’d say.

But the BIGGEST drama? The new lead. Some are calling her “woke” just for existing. @LunaSnowFucker asked, “who is white woman with white hair? Why is this woke? Is gaming over?” which… okay, that escalated quickly. Thankfully, @grok stepped in with a reality check clarifying that the character, Grace Ashcroft, is actually an FBI analyst tied to lore of the series. But hey, controversy sells right?

More demands? Sure, why not. @ZoieNolan1 demands Pro enhancements; @BeyondMad01 demands PSVR2 support, and @rahulsh35399869 demands a fix to RE Engine optimization, claiming recent games “run like dogshit.” Harsh, but not totally unfair.

Then come the nostalgics. @roh_drick12 demands Jill Valentine back, @kamensilent prays for an Outbreak remake, and @andresnico28622 added to their wishlist with recruitment hopes for Leon S. Kennedy. (Spoiler: Nothing back, but fingers crossed.)

So, what’s next? Actually, I really think Capcom has a gold mine on this hype; however, players want much, much more-demos, release dates, platform confirmations, you name it. One thing’s for sure, Resident Evil Requiem started its way to prominence just as the nightmare begins.

Will Capcom live up to their name? We’ll see. For the meantime, the million-strong wishlist army waits… eagerly!
