Every year the Pokemon Community gets to celebrate Pokemon Day on February 27. Around the world, Pokemon fans celebrate the year that the first games of the series debuted in Japan back in 1996. This is the perfect time for fans to come together and celebrate the world of Pokemon.
Pokemon is teaming up with Google in a special event that will make this a special year for Pokemon. By voting, you can choose your favorite of these digital monsters to be Pokemon of the Year. Voting starts on Wednesday, February 5, at 6 A.M. PST and will continue through Friday, February 4, at 5:59 A.M. PST.
Hundreds of Pokémon have been discovered thus far…but only one can become the #PokemonOfTheYear!
The choice is yours, Trainers. Vote for your favorite Pokémon!

To participate in the voting, all you have to do is type “Pokemon Vote” on Google, and a voting screen will appear. Select a category based on region and then select one of the Pokemon on the list. They are sorted by the National Pokedex number for ease of navigation. You can cast one vote per category for a max of eight votes a day. Although you can only vote in each category once a day, you can vote each day of the voting period.
For fans wanting to get a head start on the Pokemon Day celebrations, simply boot up Pokemon GO. Starting on Tuesday, February 25, Pikachu and Eevee will be appearing in some very festive party hats. Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle will have a similar festive look and will be hatching from 7km eggs.
Pokemon Day will also have the launch of the movie Pokemon: Mewtwo Strikes Back – Evolution on Netflix. Special clones, which will include Neusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise, will be appearing in Raid Battles on Pokemon GO. Make sure to take tons of pictures during the event for a special chance at clone Pikachu making an appearance. Lastly, each day trainers will be able to complete two Special Trades instead of just the one.
Fans are expecting more events on the way as the month continues. Make sure to check back on the official Pokemon website for more details. All of the Pokemon GO events will be ending on Monday, March 2.
There is sure to be tons of more Pokemon Day fun happening across their games. A newly discovered Pokemon is expected to make an appearance, and an update for Pokemon Masters should be coming soon. Pokemon Sword and Shield will be taking part in some special Max Raid Battles.
