Ubisoft recently launched an impromptu contest for The Division 2, and ever since then, the fallout has been dramatic. The very official Division Twitter went on to announce this super cool Discord-side contest in which gamers stand to win Ultimate Edition codes and rare cosmetic items, but instead of cheers, the reply-side has grown into a shouting mess recalling bugs, crashes, and Twitch drops that never came.
So here’s how it goes: Enter the official Discord, ask a question to enter the raffle for the Ultimate Edition, or answer a question to get the Gilded Backpack cosmetic. That doesn’t sound too hard, does it? Finally, that was never the case. The replies half are prize-hungry agents desperate for an ultimate win and half are frustrated agents hollering for fixes to a game broken beyond all recognition.
@linfreitxs genuinely said, “I don’t want a code; I want the game working properly.” That hurts. Then more and more reports poured in about Delta errors, missing rewards, a buggy mission where the enemies just wouldn’t spawn, “even now, since the Twitch drops just vanished into thin air,” half of those players are still waiting for theirs.
But hey–at least the selection at the in-game store ain’t something I’d complain about, right? @xsofianof sarcastically says, “Paid apparels refreshing every 3 days…” because, well, priorities.
Some gamers are actually engaging with the contest. @athar16431 jokes about spamming questions “faster than my reflexes in The Division,” and some have begun to ask some lore-based questions such as, “Why did Kelso have to go?” (which, honestly, same).
Something about the timing… interesting. DLC Brooklyn, one of the latest for The Division 2, has been a hot mess ever since its emergence, and the players have simply exhausted. Freezes, crashes, missing rewards: all there. And, as a cherry on top, instead of ceasing to exist, they add a Discord contest. That is not exactly going to win them PR.
Will the contest be healing? Probably not. But, if you feel lucky, head over to the Discord, and chuck your hat into the ring. Do not expect the game to support you on that.
Meanwhile, we shall be the ones waiting for Ubisoft to begin tackling the core issues. Maybe after all the shiny backpacks are handed out.
