Reportedly, The Big U has broken the news that on Tuesday, May 20, The Division 2 servers would go down for scheduled maintenance. Downtime will kick off at 9:30 A.M. CEST (3:30 A.M. EDT or 12:30 A.M. PDT for those in the States). At least three hours of proposed downtime locking one out shall be counted.
But you know, infrastructure updates. At least that’s the official line. No hot patch notes, no glorious surprise DLC drop: just a few backend upgrades while Defence and Operations will finger-cross for smooth running. Really? Server maintenance… when has it ever gone according to plan?
The replies to Ubisoft’s tweet? Man, chaos. Players are just venting their frustrations as if entailing a therapy session. Some request an offline mode (how do you say “good luck” in French?). Others are complaining about cheaters in the Dark Zone, who, surprise, still want to spoil the fun. However, the ever-repeated cries about the maintenance being longer than promised fill the majority, with one Kraugel_19 bravely predicting five to six hours in place of the promised three hours. Call me crazy, but I might be right.
Somehow, it escalates. Gamer gilber mena llontop entered all-caps (always a mood) claiming that Ubisoft’s attempts to stop resource farming would only make people exploit the system harder before the patch goes live. And honestly? I’m fully behind that prediction. The players will always find a way to exploit the system.
Alongside that, some random shooter demanded the new Lexington mission because “many players still don’t have it.” Really, buddy? This is a last-minute server maintenance announcement, not a suggestion box.
Because, really, no Ubisoft thread is complete without bug talk. Diego Braz gave that always-hurtful-yet-true mindset: “Coming from BugSoft, I can only expect the worst,” which is bad. But he is right. The Division 2 has seen better days in unintentional client-side animations, and with a possible new DLC rumored for a near drop, players are growing increasingly concerned about what kind of havoc maintenance could bring about.
Amid this, some hopeful would be dreaming about surprise drops like the Pestilence skin, which one user claimed is definitely coming tomorrow, and of course, fixing the Twitch drops! Because apparently, they’re still broken.
Three hours should do, if history doesn’t repeat itself. Will it break the game? Nah. Can players find something to bitch about pending? You bet. That’s how it goes.
So, if you were thinking about hopping onto Division 2 for an all-night grind on Monday, better start thinking of Plan B. Or else… touch grass? I just put that out there.
