Ubisoft’s latest Twitch Drops for The Division 2 are total havoc with players missing rewards, having broken claims, and no communication from devs-it originally happened on April 23 until 28, and promised in-game loot just for watching streams. But for many people, those drops have never happened. And backlash? Oh yes, loud.
In fact, The Division 2 official tweet blew out all proportions about the event, telling players to keep watching because, simple, there would be rewards. Wrong. Almost to the reply, there were complaints- “Twitch says I claimed them, but there’s nothing in the in-game mailbox,” summed up JonathanSnoddy (aka Ranch Hand יוֹנָתָן). And similarly, dozens of others complained that they clicked claim in Twitch, and in-game stash was empty.
Ubisoft Support turned a blind eye to damage control and answered some players with the usual wait 48 hours lines in such cases. But for most, that waiting period earned them nothing. Jamie05267754 wasn’t having it: “Drops been broken since anniversary drops last month they obviously don’t care.” Ouch. And really? Fair enough. If this is a long-time issue, why is it not fixed?
There is always the issue of language between the parties, so Brazilian all-in-one player Bernardo_Jr7 asked: “What about prices for DLC in Brazil?” Of course, it’s “null.” This also goes for Japanese player battle_saitama as he too experienced the similar predicament of all drops claimed yet nothing is in his inventory. Ubisoft’s response? Generic link to their help site. Not very encouraging.
Some players, like SkyWalk148, have already made up their minds about streaming having come to an end: “Not gonna waste my time in the next stream. Fact.” And really? Can’t blame them. What’s the point if those rewards don’t even work? Even worse is feeling robbed; there are players like gerritjordaanx (Exoviar) who swear that they only had their Diamondback shotgun pop out to their exotic caches. RNG or rigged? Who knows.
And then, of course, there is the perennial random request: twosidesonelife demanding that “the cat with the flashlight” return: “As if.” Now there is a cat that will probably be the one thing at this point to salvage this debacle.
What is the moral? Twitch Drops are an awesome idea… when they work. When they don’t, it’s just another reason for players to lose faith. And Ubisoft’s silence is hardly helping. The growing pile of complaints suggests this is not a small glitch but a complete system failure. Will they be able to get this resolved before the next event? Or does history really repeat itself? Either way, the ball is in their court. And right now, they’re fumbling hard.
