Unhappy with the Y7S1 PTS banner, Ubisoft released the patch notes, and quite frankly, the community appeared to be… less than excited. The patch notes describe changes based on player feedback on the Public Test Server, including a shocker redesign of the Scavenging Points system. Quite a few angry players took to Twitter, divided between those arguing it was a slap to the face of longtime players and others begging for better exotic drop rates.

So, what was actually in the notes? The biggest news was a change to the Scavenging Points mechanic: these are now account wide and not character based. No more mass hoarding of points on various mule characters, a way many hardcore players have enjoyed for years to maximize their resources. According to the devs, this change is meant to make things fair for the very new player, but old-timers are furious. Tim Keegan, one of the players, actually called this a penalty for loyal fans in a tweet: “Removing scavenger points to make it ‘fair’ for new players severely penalizes players who have done the grind.”

And the Scavenging Points aren’t the only issue; there’s everything under the sun in the reply sections. Server lag? Check. Missing Twitch drops? Check. Spawn flipping at Conflict? Check, too! @clam_ox reported that they experienced desync and infinite loading screens along with 17 other players while the servers were labeled “unstable.’ Other players, instead, seem impatiently waiting for the latest DLC to go up for preorders with @crnbread saying, “Time is getting pretty close…”

But on the bright side, there aren’t a lot of angry voices out there. Some players even feel, like @Jordaninio94, that changes to mule characters “were the right move.” And Ubisoft did put one thing to rest: credits are not going account-wide, so tempers may have settled down over that…

The stronger question is whether Ubisoft will do anything about the backlash or if they will simply ignore it. For live-service games, you better not count on it. At any rate, the community is loud, messy, and most certainly unhappy.

So now, what is coming? More patches, more complaints, and if we are lucky, some fixes. Or at least better exotic drops.
