Alright, adept of parkour: Ubisoft has subtly tweaked the free-running flow of Assassin’s Creed Mirage. The community couturier, Ropotopolous (quite the real name, by the way), was the first to sniff out the movement changes introduced by Title Update 4, and soon the whispers found their way into the community.

The developers could not have waited any longer- subtle but significant changes were introduced that essentially buffed the amount of vertical height you could maintain while performing parkour.

And for the player, what does it mean? Well, Basim basically gained the advantage of more consistent bounding while roofing across Baghdad. There would no longer be crude situations where you face-plant because the game decided your jump was somewhat close, but not quite close enough.

Such a minor change, but for the purists, this might be the identity factor that places one in the nimble assassin camp and the other in the clumsy tourist club tripping over a carpet.

And just a beginning, really. They said more fixes on parkour (including tweaks to ejects, or more funky mid-air redirects) are coming next update. No solid date on it just yet, but them putting out early-day patches is prime evidence of something spicy being on the stove.

Since launch, parkour in Assassin’s Creed Mirage has been a barker of contention. Some loved the back-to-basics style; others sorely missed the buttery-smooth system of Unity. It feels like a step to close that gap with just a little bit more control offered to the player without complicating things.

Hence, if you were standing back on this replay, this might just be the moment to dust off your hidden blade and try out the new parkour. And hey, make sure to practice your leaps; with more updates inbound, Basim will keep getting slick.

One thing’s for sure, Ubisoft is far from over ironing the kinks. Whether they are smoothing out niggling little quirks or throwing in some brand-new moves, the Mirage movement system is still evolving, and that is a reason for immense cheer from anyone who’s ever smashed their controller screaming, “JUST GRAB THE LEDGE.”
