We’ve discussed quite a few of the obtainable mounts and items in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, focusing primarily on the easily-obtainable Ardenweald mounts. While some are as simple as a scavenger hunt, others are much more formidable.

Such is the case with the Wild Glimmerfur Prowler mount, which is much harder to obtain than most of the other mounts found in Ardenweald. Players not only have to take on a considerable challenge, but also hope that the drop chance goes in their favor.

Valfir the Unrelenting can be found at the entrance to the maze at the beginning of the Tirna Scithe area in Ardenweald. This massive mob has an effect called Misty Veil, which makes him immune to the vast majority of attacks.

Some attacks can still get through – players have found luck hitting him with AoE attacks, and in the brief window where the mob is casting spells, Valfir the Unrelenting is vulnerable to all attacks.

Because of this, many players have been gathering in sizeable raid groups to AoE Valfir down while healers keep them up through the mob’s high-damage abilities. However, this takes forever, and is more or less cheesing Valfir to avoid his main mechanic.

Using the Sparkling Animaseed, which is only obtainable by Night Fae Covenant faithful players channeling anima to Tirna Scithe, players can remove the Misty Veil buff over Valfir, rendering him vulnerable to all attacks at all times.

While this makes him considerably easier, he’s still far from a pushover. Though not quite as powerful as a world boss, Valfir the Unrelenting is among the most powerful mobs that one can find in the Ardenweald zone.

Anyone can participate in the kill, though – many groups have been made up of both factions from all sorts of Covenants. You only need one Night Fae player to obtain and use the seed and render Valfir the Unrelenting vulnerable to all attacks, lootable by all.

Once you finally make Valfir relent, there isn’t a phenomenal chance of obtaining the mount. While the drop chance is unknown, the Wild Glimmerfur Prowler seems to have a very low drop chance, with most groups only seeing one drop even in large numbers of looting players.

It seems that Valfir may only be lootable once a day as well, though this is currently unconfirmed, so there’s a good chance you’ll be farming for quite a while. As players progress through the Night Fae covenant and get more geared in general, the challenge will become lesser, but there’s still quite a fight on your hands for now just to get a chance at the mount.
