One of the more important aspects of the single-player and online experience in Red Dead Redemption 2 is the ability to hunt animals. The game features dozens of species to hunt and/or catalog throughout the game, the most prestigious of which are the unique Legendary Animals.
Legendary Animals are stronger, unique versions of the standard animal species scattered throughout the game. They are much harder to kill than their normal counterparts and can be much more dangerous to encounter. The Legendary Bear for example, has more of a silvery pelt, with a scar running across one of its eyes. It can kill you in one swipe, however, so be sure to come prepared for each of these encounters.
The article below will cover each of the 16 legendary animals, as well as where to find them and what they reward when you skin them.
Legendary Alligator
The Legendary Alligator can be found to the south of Lagras, in the Bayou Nwa region of Lemoyne. Rewards the Legendary Alligator Skin and Legendary Alligator Tooth.
Legendary Bear
The Legendary Bear can be found in the clearing to the north of the lake at O’Creagh’s Run in the Grizzlies East region of Ambarino. You can only hunt this animal after completing the Exit Pursued By A Bruised Ego mission.
Legendary Beaver
The Legendary Beaver can be found southeast of the Elysian Pool, west of the Van Horn Trading Post. Rewards the Legendary Beaver Pelt and Legendary Beaver Tooth.

Legendary Buck
The Legendary Buck is in the black bone forest at the western foot of Mt. Shan, located near Strawberry. The Legendary Buck pelt sells for quite a bit, and the Legendary Buck Antler trinket is definitely worth hunting down as early as possible in the game, given that it increases the quality of your skinned pelts.
