The esports industry has bagged yet another major signing deal which perfectly shows that it has finally hit the mainstream. In a recent announcement, Overwatch League has revealed that it now has its very own official beer partner and sponsor.
And this major deal is with none other than the multinational drinking and brewing holdings company, Anheuser-Busch InBev or ABI.
The sponsorship will go on for the duration of the game’s 2019 Season. The deal includes having Bud Light as the official beer of Overwatch League.
It will be activated at various fan watch events and parties all over the world except for China. This means players and supporters can expect the presence of Bud Light brand during the next Overwatch League events.
The brand will have its first sponsored event and will be activated during the Dallas Bud Light Homestand Weekend. Then, it will have another Bud Light Homestand Weekend that will take place in Atlanta in July.
After that, Overwatch League will sponsor fan activations LA Rivalry Weekend later in the year. Aside from its activation in the United States, ABI also plans on holding activation programs outside of the country.
This includes activation programs for the markets of South Korea, the United Kingdom, and Canada.
Blizzard also announced that the 2019 Grand Finals of Overwatch League will be sponsored by ABI and Bud Light. Details of the event’s date and location, however, weren’t included but it should be revealed soon.
Additionally, three televised broadcasts of Overwatch League on ESPN2 and ABC are sponsored by Bud Light. The program will be available on April 27 from 8 to 10 PM EDT on ESPN2. The second program will broadcast on ABC on July 6 from 3 to 5 PM EDT. And lastly, there will be a televised broadcast on July 7 on ESPN2 from 2 to 3:30 PM EDT.
This isn’t the first time that ABI aligned themselves with great esports partners. Back in 2016, the company started its Bud Light All-Stars program. The company also sponsored the Wizards District Gaming and Wizards’ NBA 2k League team.
Through the partnership with ABI, Overwatch League will be able to continue connecting with fans in new and exciting ways.
This will also open up new doors for Overwatch League to connect with a new part of legal-drinking-age fans. Watch parties that are happening around the world will get even better with ABI and Bud Light’s sponsorship.
