The designers behind the Escape the Dark games are challenging at work on a new board game based on the popular survival horror franchise The Last of Us, and they want to launch a Kickstarter for it later this month.

Fans of Naughty Dog‘s grim post-apocalyptic action-adventure series have had a lot to look forward to recently, what with a live-action The Last of Us TV series coming to HBO in the first few months of next year and a current-gen remake of the first Last of Us game releasing on the PlayStation 5 to positive reviews back in September.

A recent tweet from Naughty Dog’s official Twitter account confirmed that tablet PC versions of The Last of Us would soon be available. This announcement claims that Escape the Dark publisher Themeborne is developing a board game titled The Last of Us: Escape the Dark, which will take place in the Last of Us universe.

Naughty Dog has promised to share more details about The Last of Us: Escape the Dark, including a Kickstarter campaign beginning on November 8 in the style of the upcoming Elden Ring board game.

On the Naughty Dog website, you can find more information about the new partnership between Naughty Dog and Themeborne, as well as a picture of the game board and box art for The Last of Us: Escape the Dark. Naughty Dog has hinted that The Last of Us: Escape the Dark will follow in the footsteps of Themeborne’s Escape the Dark series, which is known for its cooperative and accessible gameplay.

The image released by Naughty Dog depicts a board game with a striking black-and-white color scheme that should be familiar to players of Escape the Dark, and it is said to feature chapter cards that players work to resolve together, ensuring that no two games of The Last of Us: Escape the Dark are the same.
