Season 2.5 of Marvel Rivals has begun, and never has the battlefield looked quite so chaotic—or quite so controversial. There is much to watch with this update, what with the new map, Team-Up abilities, and a plethora of opinions from the players, ranging from hype to irrepressible frustrations.

In a way to hype things up and to thank the community for keeping the fight alive, the devs announced the patch update. Now, several are already going all-in to testing, although some others are being quite vocal about their opinions.

On the plus side, the new map is out there for fast-paced confrontations, forcing players to reconsider their strategies and their interaction with Team-Up abilities. The developers would like to see mostly coordinated teams where players can coordinate to reap the benefits; however, not everybody is convinced.

For more information regarding Jeff: This underground menace has been the hottest topic from the moment the patch was released. Venom 🕷️ (@xKaptainVenom) says that Jeff’s rework keeps him strong but in different ways. They tweeted, “130healing/s & 70dmg/s seems pretty strong to me,” while defending the changes. The others? Absolutely not.

“Jeff is useless,” david ♡ (@dvd_es2) stated upon coming out of disappointment two hours after trying the update. “Ultron is ass, Human Torch might as well be deleted, and Hela got buffed for no reason. First massive L patch.” Owch.

Then comes the Ultron discussion. Some players swear he’s still great, and some truly think he’s been nerfed to nothingness. Hoshi (@HoshizoraTTV) straight-up asked, “R u playing Ultron wrong? Everyone is saying he’s good!” Meanwhile, david ♡ was not going to just stand there, insisting the robotic villain now provides “absolutely 0 value.”

Then there’s the rank system—at least some players consider it a “why is this still broken?” feature. Multiple gamers like RG | KiLLR (@KiLLRchad) and Krispie Kreme (@KremeKrispie) are begging for a reset and claim the current setup is crooked. Others, such as SmoreDragon (@WickerCandygore), are begging to have Ultron rebuffed because of it.

And here’s the MVP one. Dexter Anvil (@AnvilDexter) called out the system, dropping a screenshot of a healer getting MVP for a mere assist. “Pls fix mvp system, it’s just insane,” they wrote.

If only some of the reactions would not be salty for once! Destoroyah (@DestoroyahX) has been hyped from the beginning, tweeting “KEEEEEEEP GOIIIIIINNGGGG!!! #ForStanLee.” At the same time, BnBriTV (@BnBriTV) couldn’t wait to jump into the game, sending a hype GIF saying, “Can’t wait to login.”

What are the opinions, then? Season 2.5 shook the ground even if the players didn’t like it. Some got the goodies; others got… questionable changes, and the community is split. But one thing’s for sure: Marvel Rivals are not afraid to stir the pot. So, who’s logging first to see just how bad Jeff really is?

Upset about this update? Take a deep sigh before queuing, or maybe follow Gui 🇱🇺 (@Gui_Sannn) and start begging for the “avoid teammate” option. Because no one wants to go into another match with a “horrible player.”
