Patch 1.4.2 saw the STALKER’s release, bringing various other fixes to the Zone. It went through gamepad sensitivity, mission bugs, and an off-hand little balance change. While devs are busy, fixing this and that, the fans cry away for one big improvement: A-life.
Beginnings are probably standard, with controller sensitivity, mission fixes, and some balances. But with a glance at the comments section, things look a little less celebratory. There are even some pleading for love towards the dynamic AI system of the game. One fan who goes by the name of WileE.Coyote said, “A-life fully implemented when? I support your studio; I bought day 1 and am waiting and waiting.” Ouch.
Will some go on as usual, half full of praise and salt? “The Xbox version loves to crash and set me back,” MrEldricardo added, “whereas the PC version behaves exquisitely on epic settings.” Fraulein_Kazz yelled out enough to hear her: “RTX3070 Users Need Support please… 5fps in time…. Unplayable.” Yikes.
Well, not everyone is going down. Walkingdenn thanked the devs (in Ukrainian) for the controller fix, and Paulo Vitor Leles wanted to know how to get rid of these two keys that stayed after he’d already used them. Classic STALKER inventory-jank.
That is when console guys breathe quietly. Various others, with BenCap and ǞӼɛʟӃƦʊՖꞪɛƦ included, are praying for a PS5 port. Here’s the kicker: Charlie Burns revealed that the game was GSC self-funded, and that only Xbox funded marketing and Game Pass. So PlayStation fans may have to wait for a little while.
And let’s face it: Where are patch rollouts without haters? Maxlenasonya Lahtadyr Zhakhadyr dismissed the game as “shit” in Ukrainian and in-something-unprintable. Meanwhile, Beezlebuus1 trolled with a request for “pronouns for Sidorovich,” because, well, Twitter.
What next? The patch is out but what will be GSC’s next focus? A-life or those more minor issues? Players badly want the trademarked SIGMA STALKER AI chaos; until then, the Zone may feel a bit… void.
For now, all curious heads can take their gaze to the full patch notes on Steam. And maybe keep that A-life update in the back of their minds—wherever that may be.
