Closing the 1.0.2 release today by GSC Game World for the S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Legends of the Zone Trilogy Enhanced Edition sees the devs calling it an improvement. The reaction from the players was- to put it gently,- mixed. However, you can check for yourself, as the patch notes listing fixes and tweaks were published on Steam. But the full publication did nothing to quiet some fans who are still raging over unresolved issues; the console gang, in particular, is awaiting mod support.

Good news first. The patch fixes a lot of bugs and hiccups during performances, always a good thing for a remastered collection of formerly released games. But, to be frank, nobody is really celebrating. The comments on GSC’s announcement tweet are prettily varying with unbridled frustration, sarcastic remarks, and pure fury. AlexanderWesker wasn’t gentle, saying, “You managed to ruin the trilogy too, my compliments. You are a total disappointment.” An air so cold it almost chills you!

That ongoing sour story about the removal of Soviet-era details from the game. Billy Mays (not the infomercial guy, presumably) asked if the devs had “added back the Soviet era details to the world,” for he was disinclined to even touch the game since they had been taken out. It would not be the first time players pulled such antics- given the messiness of the issue, some Ukrainian fans have been vocal about their disdain for Soviet symbols, while others want the original aesthetics restored. Well, it’s a mess.

But this is where the console audience feels ignored. TheWh1sp3rer aired his disdain on the official Discord, crying: “ANY ETA ON MODS FOR CONSOLE?” Meanwhile, ProRebornYT is craving to know if the game will be on the Xbox app with achievements-any simple questions-yet still no answers.

And then comes the weird list. One such demand from Tsitteg: “Please put chickens back in Italy.” No context; just chickens. (We’re assuming this is some kind of inside joke or a very specific bug.)

Then there were controller issues. Artur Sitarz wanted to say that “even at 100 percent sensitivity, the character turns too slowly,” while LordSin34 and others debated aim-assist problems in Clear Sky and Call of Pripyat. Some of the players found Workarounds; others just gave up.

So, yes, 1.0.2 is out; but the real matter here is the backlash by the players. GSC assure that improvements are ongoing, but with so much frustration in the air, they’ve got their hands full. Perhaps this next update will see those Italian chickens return to the fold. Or, you know, actual fixes that the players have been begging for.

Meanwhile, for those that want to jump back into the Zone, check the Steam notes of what has changed. Don’t expect any miracles, though. Mod support and Soviet nostalgia? Well… keep waiting. Or, as kivis_fag suggested, “play the originals with mods.” Sometimes the old ways are best.
