The developers took to Twitter to begin this heated debate over the mysterious third role. With the game art showing two labeled boxes- Vanguard and Strategist and one emptied- they asked, “Who do you think could fit in the third box? Should there even be a character like this?”

And the floodgates opened.

Immediately some players shouted out Beast’s name, thinking that the hybrid class might go to Beast with his scientific side and the X-Men background. Oh, fabuzato really backed this up, posting a screen grab that said, “He’s big, a brilliant scientist, and the X-Men’s doctor. Beast is the obvious choice.” But some thought they could put in Mr. Sinister, Dracula, or maybe even Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.

And then one yells SCOTT SUMMERS ITS YOUR TIME BABY,” while another shouted Vision or Doctor Doom. And then there’s that nice one who said, “Venom is a pseudo-strategist,” sort of strangely making sense.

But the real worry started when arguing about existing characters. Some said Magneto was already acting like support, and others said Groot really needs to be able to heal. Then started that flamefest about whether Cap’s ulti was healing because apparently, it’s a controversial topic.

The most epic suggestion? Ryan Myers came up with the idea for a melee tank whose attacks heal teammates: “So many games where that would be perfect for the team comp.” And honestly? Next level.

Of course, not everyone was behind the hybrid concept. Daniel Cox had a little crack, saying anybody playing that way would just get brushed off because “he can tank and he can heal”, to which a fair point kind of popped up.

With all these discussions on-going, it is clear that the players are extremely passionate about the way in which their favorite characters perform. Will NetEase actually add a third hybrid role? That one is yet to be seen. What we know for sure is the community is bursting with ideas.

Which one do YOU think should fill that third box? Beast? Dracula? Or maybe some obscure character nobody’s thought of yet? Well, that debate is far from over!
