Many Harry Potter fans have wanted a roleplaying game set in the Wizarding World for a long time, and the popularity of Hogwarts Legacy on Steam’s wishlist is proof of that. Anxiety for Avalanche Studios’ upcoming video game Hogwarts Legacy, scheduled for release in February 2023, has been building on social media thanks to promotional materials such as trailers, gameplay videos, and press releases.
The basic premise of Hogwarts Legacy is that players enroll as transfer students at Hogwarts and become entangled in a web of intrigue, mystery, and adventure set in the Wizarding World. Players can design their unique character, join a House of their choosing at Hogwarts, and experience a time and place straight out of the Harry Potter books and films.
Anyone who has read the books or watched the movies and appreciated them will find this quite intriguing, and the Steam Wishlist chart shows a large audience for this game. In 2023, Hogwarts Legacy is expected to be one of the most anticipated video games, outselling titles like Bethesda’s Starfield.
Hogwarts Legacy has dark magic, and the game’s entire tone appears to lean toward investigating the darker side of the Wizarding Area by setting much of the open world within the Forbidden Forest. Hogwarts Legacy isn’t necessarily a horror game. Still, it doesn’t seem to mind leaning toward the genre with optional tasks like the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop or the ability to cast famed curses like the Cruciatus Curse.
Fans of the PC, Xbox, and Switch versions of Hogwarts Legacy have voiced their displeasure at the game’s PlayStation-exclusive DLC. However, avalanche Studios and Warner Bros. have made it plain that the PlayStation is the best way to experience Hogwarts Legacy at launch, even though the PlayStation-exclusive content will be introduced later.
