Several new videos have been released on Paradox’s Youtube channel. This new DLC expansion brings a french expansion to the game along with an alternate history of France. Hearts of Iron IV: La Resistance will let you travel through the dynasty of Napoleon along with tons of different allegiances and political leanings, providing a unique look at the country.

There is other content stuffed into the DLC released, including the introduction of armored cars. There was also an interesting developmental comment from 2D Artist Celine Jensen as she was asked to tone down the iconic naked chest of Liberty, which she refused to do.

This is the third major expansion for Hearts of Iron IV. This DLC was released alongside the free 1.9 patch. It follows the plot of a puppet government that has taken over the allied nation. Only the brave stand against the oppressors, and by using your espionage skills, you can aid in the efforts of La Resistance.

La Resistance brings secret agents, espionage missions, and brand new options for resistance movements within Hearts of Iron IV. It is up to you to send agents into dangerous territory to decipher enemy secrets and prepare your troops for your upcoming invasion. By helping move collaborators to the top, you undermine other cities through both power and grace.

New focus trees have been added for France. New National Focuses for Free France, and the Vichy France regime are added alongside an option for the conservative forces to restore the old French Monarchy. New focuses have been added for Spain as well, bringing more depth to the Spanish campaign. Players will find a new national focus for Republican Spain and Nationalist Spain as well as a way to expand the Spanish Civil War.

Espionage brings your Intelligence Agency into play so you can train spies. These spies each specialize in different types of information warfare and help you gain a passive resistance to enemy spies. Using these elite agents, you will help allied resistance movements by giving them the gear they need to damage the enemy efforts.

Your agents can not only prepare ground collaborators to take over once you have conquered the city, but they can decrypt enemy communications to gain a battlefield advantage. You can even place scout planes in the area to gain information on armored cards and other enemy plans.

Hearts of Iron IV is a PC exclusive available on Steam. The DLC is scheduled to release later this month on February 25.
