GWENT: The Witcher Card Game was recently released on the iOS App Store. CD Projekt Red planned to release the card game on Android but had no scheduled launch date. CDPR has now officially announced when Android users can play the game, along with opening pre-registration.
GWENT is currently available on iOS and PC. The game was available on consoles, but the developer decided to focus more on mobile and consoles.
GWENT is a spin-off card game from The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt. The game became so popular that it became a new multiplayer game. Since its release, a story-based game, Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, was also released.
The official description from the Play Store states: “Join in The Witcher universe’s favorite card game! In GWENT, you clash with your friends in fast-paced duels that combine bluffing, on-the-fly decision making and careful deck construction. With heroes, spells and special abilities that dramatically turn the tide of battle, deception and clever tricks are necessary parts of your arsenal.”
CDPR gave some additional information about the Android release. The game is similar to the iOS version, as it was designed for touchscreen mobile devices. The Android version will have cross-play available so gamers can compete against iOS and PC players.
Pre-registration is available now on the Google Play Store. Those that register early will also receive the Imperial Golem avatar.
In the game, players will have several cards available to them at the start. Gamers will have to compete against others to win more exclusive cards to increase the strength of their deck. Some of the cards are generic fighters, while others feature characters from the series along with custom animations. The quality of the cards on mobile devices is similar to the PC versions, according to the Play Store, but it will depend on the user’s device.
Pre-registration will send players a notification as soon as the game is available for download. After the game launches, the game is free-to-play but has some in-game purchases. The game does not require any additional purchases to play online.
Along with the Android news, CDPR released a new trailer that included the official date for the game’s launch.
GWENT is available now on iOS and PC. The Android release is officially scheduled for March 24.
