Ubisoft has dropped a teaser for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and already the fans are in a craze. The tweet states “The Journey Continues” in passing and teases some tantalizing post-launch content that is going to be release on April 30. There is hardly anything more to hear as of now, except for the fact that the dev is cooking something—and the hype train is leaving the station.
The tweet itself may be short and sweet, but that’s all it takes to set the AC fandom buzzin’. It’s a tad-wild, but as of today, there are no replies whatsoever: those things usually go nuts with theories and demands for more info in under an hour. Perhaps they’re too busy sharpening a hidden blade to bother.
What is coming, you ask? Certainly, Ubisoft has kept quiet about this one, but if one were to judge on past releases, it is fair to suspect things like DLCs, new missions, or, heck, maybe even a grand crossover surprise (ezio cameo? A girl can dream). The date, however, is the cherry-on-the-top: just enough distance for wild speculation but close enough for hyped-up frenzy.
Let us be real here, Ubisoft knows how to wring a launch out of Assassin’s Creed. The endless updates for Valhalla? Shadows will perhaps follow a similar roadmap regarding content disseminated through the season, gear drops, and maybe even rogue gallery-like new targets. The link from the tweet will take you to…well, nothing right now, but you know it’s going to be an event when the time comes.
For now, we’ll stare, wait some more, theorize, and watch that trailer for the hundredth time. April 30 could just not come any sooner, unless of course, Ubisoft will be teasing us with yet another one. And they will. Heck, let’s face it.
So grab your calendar, grab a kunai, and hope for the post-launch content to be delayed. Because if there is one thing Ubisoft loves almost as much as the historical setting in their games, it’s leaving their fans hanging.
