Wow, just that little bombshell crossover is now working to take DC’s Tim Drake to the chaos of battle royale. An auspicious tease was set by the official Fortnite Twitter account when they dropped the line: “Welcome to the Fortnite Party, Tim Drake.” And players sure did have thoughts.

First of all, for those who may not be aware, Tim Drake is one of several iterations of Robin. He isn’t the first Robin, which would actually be Dick Grayson, aka Nightwing; nor is he the “edgy” or “angry” one, for that matter. But he’s got his fanbase, and many reacted differently to Fortnite‘s decision to include him—some thrilled with it, some confused, and many others downright pissed.

The reactions were a storm of hype and chaos. @boingdemango01 shouted, “YESSS MY BOY TIM!!! 😭😭,” whereas @hausofelliott claimed it was “homophobic,” because in the comics, Tim Drake currently does have a boyfriend. Yep, Fortnite somehow just plowed right into that debate.

Others, however, were demanding Nightwing instead. “ah honey.. Let’s drop the nightwing skin and redo this,” wrote @neversbeme; @CallMeRaza jokingly added, “We all know why they picked Tim Drake,” implying with the laughter emoji and pride flag emoji that the decision was made very consciously in that regard.

Others were not having it. @ELECTRlCHAPPELL declared in all caps: “YALL MUST MUST BE DISABLED AND AUTISTIC,” which is something nobody should say. @Omelhorvulcano, who is a DC fan, dragged Fortnite for their failure to grasp the very basic facts of the universe they’re marketing: “Tim e Starfire? Vocês não têm conhecimento básico do universo com que fizeram parceria? Demitam esse estagiário.” (Translation: “Tim and Starfire? You guys don’t even have basic knowledge of the universe you partnered with? Fire that intern.”)

Time for the memers. @TLOUxFortnite joked about Ellie from The Last of Us gathering superhero cards in Fortnite, while @quipen248 posed the real question, “Green Lantern soon??.”

Super passionate Nightwing stans were in. “I have been extremely patient for Nightwing. I need it to happen,” said @Chris15543668. Same, dude. Same.

So, what’s the deal with Tim Drake in Fortnite? Kind of the skin itself is very cool—classic Robin colors with a nice modern twist. But the bigger thing bigger is that Fortnite is still the number one ongoing crossover game. They’ve had Marvel, Star Wars, Dragon Ball, and now go full DC.

More Bat-family skins are definitely gonna come out now. Are the Nightwing fans ever going to stop begging for their boy? No, ever! And is the timely addition of Tim Drake going to cause endless Twitter brawls in minutes? 100 percent.

And that’s how Fortnite wins: by keeping players talking, either for or against it. One thing is for sure: Tim Drake will be going down on a lot of kills.
