The Fortnite Item Shop had just received these massive new Star Wars edition drops and players have… well, I will say they have had full-on rollercoaster emotions. Given their mindset right now, if someone believes Epic is guilty of the biggest-ever robbery, 12-WE SAID, and 12-Star Wars skins were released to the shop tonight, with Battle Ready bundles, Jam Tracks, and the elusive Masamune blade. The excitement is real, but some gamers are really gutted.
First up has to be the finest of all line-ups. It is Darth Vader, along with Mandalorian legacies, and no doubt a great many surprises too (you should know by now that Epic is mad about last-minute twists). There are five new skins in the Battle Ready tab, four new jams on Jam Tracks, and the Masamune? That is some finely polished stuff for collectors. Also, vehicle accessories—they add just a little extra fun for your Whiplash.
Now, the spice kicks in. All the while, players were expecting Street Fighter skins to return, with Chun-Li already being a crime of absence from the house. Crickets from the Street Fighter side. Enter outrage. @animal_moo59263 went bulls-eye capitalized lock: FORTNITE IS TOO LAZY TO PUT CHUN LI BACK!! Meanwhile, @morteberetta laid the accusation towards Epic: “fooling us once with Kratos,” meaning Street Fighter fans got ghosted again. Ouch.
Now into the Naruto camp: @Mastershake1995 cut deep saying, “What no Naruto?”—because, let’s face it, anime collab stans are always waiting. And then I could go on about the Kratos hopefuls. @ightky cleansed the slate of expectations: That God of War never got updates to return.
Now, some are more realistic about it. @GAMB1T14 shrugged it off: “Ending the Star Wars season with a bang? Hmmm OK 👍.” Meanwhile, @DustySketchbook said they “only seen one Darth Jar Jar,” which… basically, same.
If the drama is messier, then early shops got updates with @drcacahuettealt being sufficiently spicy calling, “Tabs are added a bit early 🤔.” Setting aside the conspiratorial lines, the real question is: So much Star Wars, zero love for other franchises? @Tru_522 said: “They should’ve had all Star Wars skins since day 1 of the season.”
So what’s next? If leaks are to be believed, then should see another Shop Meta-Event on the 8th or 10th of June, but, for now, the Item Shop is just too much of a galaxy for itself. And those who hold Street Fighter down? @FurryRatBeast was straightforward: “I knew SF is not returning. There’s no way.”
All in all, it is a roller coaster in Fortnite. Half the crowd is loving it; the other half are screaming across Twitter in caps. Then comes the best part of a live-service game: tomorrow is another day; so are a load of skins and another torrent of chaos.
Grab your lightsabers (or don’t). May the odds be ever in your favor—maybe something.
