The full-trailer release for Resident Evil Requiem has been given to Capcom, with the collective internet already losing its collective mind. That ominous tagline-“Requiem for the dead. Nightmare for the living”-sets the mood for another seemingly damned-preytastic entry into this iconic franchise. So while the hype had grown around the trailer, the question about whether this is going to be the first versus third-person gameplay is already dividing the fandom.

And it isisite to say that the trailer looks insane! Dark and atmospheric with that good old Resident Evil dread. After its reveal, there was quite a scramble for details concerning this information. The bigger question: point of view. Some eagle-eyed gamers noticed that the Steam page listed it as first-person, and that gave way to varied reactions. One user, @mgeoff88, responded, “Oh wow… was hoping they would go back to third-person, like the remakes,” while others still hope for dual perspective options as were in Resident Evil Village.

And then enters the Game Pass debate. No sooner had the trailer dropped that @renisuperstar pleaded, “Pls be on gamepass “: with all the recent moves Microsoft has been making, can one even blame them? However, others, such as @AnaAnsan3, are convinced that this whole RE series will definitely arrive on Xbox Game Pass at some point soon: “#ResidentEvil belongs to #Xbox, the true fans of the series are Xbox fans.” Quite a statement, but hey, crazier things have been said the past.

And these replies must be noticed. One user, @chalakloomar, threatened to unleash a T-virus on Xbox HQ if they didn’t present him with a free Series X, whereas @games_lover__ trolled with the rarity of “I love you PlayStation😍.” Classic drama. Then the players started to float some theories to connect this with Resident Evil Outbreak, with @NrdWallProgress speculating that a trailer character might be linked to that cult-favorite spin-off. If that’s the case, does that mean an Outbreak remake is actually in development? The speculations get crazy.

Release date? Still unknown; however, there is this optimistic fellow, @neppahtitel, claiming it’s “coming out next february.” No official word yet; but should Capcom’s ways matter, it shouldn’t be a long wait.

And thus a verdict? The trailer is getting a lot of conversations going, but the question that matters is: Is it first- or third-person, and if GamePass wonanna tie it at all into deeper RE lore? Well, the questions are still left for debate. What is, however, sure is that Resident Evil Requiem is shaping up to be the next nightmare hit. Now, it’s a matter of just making it through the wait.
