Another great day brings another Fortnite item shop update, which has set the scene for discussion and/or raging, depending on whom you inquire about. This drop mixes old with new: Teen Titans and Marvel, and some pristine Battle Ready goods. And the community’s reaction, well, let’s just say they have been creatively colorful.
Well, first off, we have more of the Teen Titans skins, that is, Beast Boy and Starfire-yet IDed “BeastBoyStarDreamer” again. For many, it indeed is a dream. “FINALLY DREAMER IS COMING BACK,” shouted one player, while another said, “MY RARE DREAMER MY LIFE IS OVER.” So yes, people are there. Meanwhile, some members of the community voice their dissatisfaction over the DC overdose. One jokingly said, “This will be Star Wars all over again with the constant DC skins in shop.”
The Marvel tab will sell the Star-Lord, Gamora, and Thanos (ID: “StarGamoraThanos”), with their usual divided public opinions. “Marvel… Please kill me,” one player sighed, probably tired of the neverending cycle of crossovers. Others just want to see anything new, even if it isn’t the collab they were hoping for.
Speaking of what we miss—where is Street Fighter? The absence of Chun-Li and company has really gotten players fired up. “No Street Fighter we won’t be purchasing,” remarks one user, and another is basically just shouting, “WHERE IS STREET FIGHTER?” Epic is playing hard to get, and the fans are trying to get in.
More added? The “Get Your Kicks” inclusion is back, with Vans-flavored cosmetics (ID: “SHOESVansDrop2”), because such has got to be the epitome of battle royale spirit… right? For the tactical fans, the “Battle Ready” (ID: “BattleReady0608”) section should ace a few looks: five in total.
Now, along with the item shop comes next-mentioned chaos among response threads. Then there are the ones begging for Black Adam (“No Black Adam 😭?..”), for Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia skins (“Want Attack on Titan and My Hero Academia to come back 🥲”) – and then your run-of-the-mill individual shouting for, “When will Darth Jar Jar be added?” Sir, this is a Wendy’s.
Add fuel to the never-ending “rare” skins losing exclusivity drama-fire. “He’s my rare he’s not coming back,” one player mourned while another clapped back with, “Dreamer and Starfire were just as rare as him before, calm down.” That is, in a nutshell, exactly how the drama has been playing out over the ages.
So, what’s the verdict? Another good (but a little predictable) Item Shop update. Some players are hyped, some salty, and a few are just here for the memes. Will Epic ever give the people what they really want? Probably never. But hey, at least we got Beast Boy.
