Fortnite OG teaser number two just came hurdling through the air, and viewers are facing freeway traffic trying to interpret it. The tweet came from the well-known leaker HYPEX: “It seems the sky is falling in OG. Keep your friends close and your Dusty Depot closer.” Yes, in Fortnite OG, the sky might literally fall, and Dusty Depot sits somewhere in the aftermath.
First thing: That is an expression that is not really used much; is there even a meaning to it? Some players see it as a reference to Chicken Little (remember that Disney flick?), while others look upon it as the biggest in-game event to ever occur, maybe a meteor strike? Dusty Depot has already witnessed so many events of tint and of despair-one though was the meteor strike, and of course, at one point, it was crushed and turned into Dusty Divot. Now, certainly for Dusty, it is heading for another big whack.
Reactions are flooding in, with many divided between the hype and the skepticism. One player, going as @JossWizardX, cracked, “Dusty Depot has survived more trauma than half the player base!” Conversely, @just2red looks ahead, saying, “I can’t wait to see Tilted Towers destroyed.” More love-hate, as one goes, “@Nir7ann, OG Fortnite sucks,” which really… wow.
Beyond that, @gumtism made a good observation: “In 2018, they kept hinting at Tilted being hit and subverted our expectations by hitting Dusty Depot instead. They’re doing the same but in reverse this time 🤫.” Could this mean Tilted Towers is actually the real target? The suspense is literally killing everybody.
Nostalgia is ostensibly another factor for so many players in this game. @arshiazee just summed everything up: “OG vibes are unreal.” Trending Meteora has been dropping emotional reactions like a storm: “So many memories inbound. 🤩” and “Hypex, the feels are real. 👑.”
Anyway, the Fortnite teasers are cryptic, if nothing else; it’s as though Epic Games is having a good time at our expense. Remember when they teased a black hole to begin the ending of Chapter 2? Yeah, this could be another huge event in the making.
So, what’s next? Is history going to repeat itself with a live event where the sky literally falls, or is this exactly what Dusty Depot deserved (again)? Or, of course, completely out of the blue, they’re gonna drop something on us that nobody could guess. The players are ready… or so they say.
One thing I know is that this won’t be the last time Fortnite OG keeps throwing curve balls at us. The moment of love or hate, Fortnite will probably log in just so that you can society, I mean, since when was Fortnite ever boring?
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ll be staring at the in-game sky waiting for it to drop on my head. Just another day in Fortnite.
