The tweet and its accompanying purple-themed desktop wallpaper and retweet-worthy laptop design required absolutely no words to start a conversation. Oh, the floodgates of reply actually opened.
First is the very split going down the PC-gaming world. Some see it like Azäzel (@B1adeRunnerz), who is going an all-out desktop route, saying, “about time” for switching. Then there are those like ironthanos30, who swear by laptops as good for on-the-go gaming and for whom replacing their Asus G14 is a priority. Then again, DAN!EL (@Makjesty) refuses to choose, instead opting to get both-and do whatever he likes, after all.
The thing to keep in mind is that these are much personal preferences: Some went into quite specific details. Pienapberry (@PienapB) said the desktop was crisp and that it speaks to her; GrandpaGamer61 (@DavidRiesmeyer), on the other hand, commented that he’d love the new Desktop because seems pretty nice. Then Comeau (@ComeauJosh) threw a wrench in those plans: No monitor or keyboard for them means laptop is the only option. Priorities, people.
Another approach which is quite popular is the practical approach: SMAZZZ (@FOCUSSSMOK) lays it out—desktop at home; laptop on the road. There really is no need to choose when you can both fit into different needs. And Sandy Ross (@SandyRossAEW) is thinking about Football Manager and tells they “could do with a powerful desktop for when new games drop.” Priorities again.
But not all replies were pertaining to hardware as some rather turned impromptu: Like KENKEB357’s cryptic rant about “gray alien bastards” and “anonymous sources,” which would leave one scratching his/her head, followed by Gonzaluneta (@GonzaloonTwiter) bringing another problem to the table; that of Alienware’s sponsorship controversies, “racist with Argentina.” Yikes.
Then there were the emotional reactions: May (@MayMuerta) got to the heavy stuff: “What if I just want us both to feel happy?” While neon (@igopgoku1) straight-up begged, “WHERE IS …. 🥺for ME,” basically Alienware must have made a decision that they should not be part of.
So what’s the takeaway here? Gamers are passionate about their setup, whether team desktop, team laptop, or why not both? Alienware’s Tweet might have been simple, but the responses say it loud and clear that everyone has an opinion about gaming barrels and everyone has their backing.
