Ubisoft has confirmed that For Honor, which was released back in February of 2017, will receive enhancements for next-gen consoles.

At launch, the Xbox Series X will be capable of running For Honor in 4K resolution through backward compatibility. In addition, the Series S will run the game at 1080p also through backward compatibility. Then, in December, an update will enable the game to run at 60FPS on all platforms, including the PlayStation 5.

The December update, making the game capable of running at 60FPS on all platforms, will come alongside Ubisoft launching Year 4, Season 4. As of right now, the developers haven’t shared any additional information regarding what will come to For Honor as part of its December update.

Everything from the current-gen version of the game — player profiles, purchases, and inventory — will carry over to the enhanced next-gen versions. So, playing the game on a different platform won’t force you to lose everything you’ve earned over the years.

Ubisoft issued the following statement regarding For Honor coming to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.

“Today, we are happy to announce that For Honor will be headed to next-generation consoles. We can now confirm our next-gen backward compatibility and are very excited to provide, through it, an enhanced For Honor experience to next-gen players as we enter this new chapter for the gaming industry. We’ll see you on the battlefield!”

The devs also detailed all of the enhancements For Honor will receive on next-gen consoles.

  • Improved Water Reflections
  • Improved Distance Level of Detail
  • Improved Shadow Resolution
  • Improved Texture Filtering
  • 4k Resolution (Xbox Series X, PS5) / 1080p (Xbox Series S)

Last month, Ubisoft revealed For Honor’s Year 4, Season 3 content, which is called Resistance. You can check out the trailer for it below, and the update is available now.

Still no word on whether or not Ubisoft has a sequel for the game in the works, or if they’ll just continue to add new content to the current-gen version and the updated next-gen version. Even though it was released back in 2017, For Honor has maintained a pretty strong and loyal player base, as it receives regular updates.

Since being released back in 2017, For Honor has accumulated 7.5 million players on all platforms, so it’s pretty safe to say that the game was a success. So, naturally, you’d expect a sequel to come at some point, but as previously noted, Ubisoft hasn’t even hinted at a second game.
